Microfibre is an extremely small synthetic fibre, approximately 1/100th the diameter of a human hair. It is primarily constructed from a blend of two materials, polyester and polyamide. The ratio at which these materials are blended is what adds to the versatility of microfibre and allows cloths to be made for a wide range of uses.
Our heavyweight microfibre cloths are 40cm x 40cm short pile cloths. Their composition is 80% polyester and 20% polyamide (expressed 80/20) and their weight 320gsm which is ideal for heavy duty cleaning.
Microfibre is very versatile and is used to make mats, clothing, upholstery, industrial filters, and of course cleaning cloths. The shape, size, and combinations of synthetic fibres are selected for specific characteristics, including softness, toughness, absorption, water repellency, electrostatics, and filtering capabilities.
SYR Heavyweight microfibre cloths can be used dry, damp or wet with water, no chemicals should be used as they can clog or damage the fibres. They are easy to care for, but customers are advised not to put them through a washing machine or a dryer as detergent will also clog the fibres, instead just wash them in clear warm or even hot water and leave to dry naturally.
They are extremely absorbent, with considerable cleaning and scrubbing power. Their minute fibres lift and trap dirt, moisture, bacteria and grease, leaving surfaces clean, dry and polished. They do not scratch and can be used on almost any surface, including glass and stainless steel. They are ideal for cleaning mirrors, windows and ceramics and can be used for wiping down in showers, cleaning and polishing bathroom surfaces and taps, also stainless steel sink units and can even be used to clean car paintwork and car interiors.
As heavyweight cloths they have an extra cleaning capacity that allows for numerous heavy duty industrial uses.
